Dreams and nightmare are sleep’s greatest mystery! It is a story that our brain plays when we are asleep. Full of emotions, entertainment, romance, and sometimes bizarre things, no one can tell what is waiting for them in the dreamland.

As per science, dreams and nightmare are a collection of images, feelings, and memories that occur involuntarily during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage of slumber. A person normally has multiple dreams every night and forget most of them in the morning. But did you know that just by making subtle changes, you can control your dream at night? Yes, it is absolutely possible.

Here are 5 steps that you can follow to control your dreams


A physical reminder
It has been found that most of the things that we see in our dreams is inspired by our daily life or situation. So, if you want to see a particular person or want a particular thing to appear in your dream then focus on it for a few minutes before going to bed. If the theme is linked to some image or some souvenir then keep it on your nightstand. Do you know that at times we can find the solutions to our problems in the dream? So if you are an artist then place a blank canvas near your bed at night.

Do not expect complicated things
You would have noticed that whatever activity you are doing for most part of the day, you are more likely to dream about it at night. Like if you spent your day studying then something related to it will appear in your dreams. A study found that video game players often dream about supernatural plots in their dreams. So expect simple things in your dream and spend more time with it and keep your focus on it throughout the day.

Remind yourself that you are going to dream
To make sure that you have a good dream, before going to bed remind yourself that you are going to dream today. Give some assurance to yourself that you will remember your dream today and once you wake up in the morning, write it down in your journal immediately. You will be able to notice a pattern after some time.

Check if you are dreaming
This is an important step when it comes to controlling your dreams and being in the state of lucid dreaming. Ask yourself through the day, “Am I dreaming?’. After some time you will begin to ask the same question in your dream. This will help you identify when you are actually dreaming.

Go crazy!
And when you know you are dreaming, go crazy. Do whatever you want to do and create whatever you want to. Nothing is out of the limit and out of reach in the dreamland.
